Billye Pace was born in 1932 in Birmingham, AL, and grew up in Talladega, AL. She started taking art at the age of 8 from Mrs. R. McMillan. She has painted on and off throughout the years painting under the names of Billie Claxton, Billie Edwards, and now Billye Pace.
(br)Billye took art at Jacksonville State College in Alabama and was taught by Leon Koury and Elizabeth Calbert. She attended workshops by Stephanie Kramer, Bobby Tompkins, Steve Yee, Mary Ann Cox, and many, many more.
(br)Billye is no stranger to a variety of media including pastels, oils, and her beautiful watercolor. She has exhibited paintings in Jackson, MS, at Deposit Guaranty Bank. Billye won first place in the Greenville Art Association Exhibit and the Delta Regional Hospital Exhibit. Her paintings hang in the permanent collection at the Greenville Art collection. Her painting style is realistic but recently has begun painting in an impressionistic style using oil paints and a palet knife.
