Cathy Hegman is a full time painter and workshop instructor. Her artwork has won numerous awards both national and regional. She has been juried into Signature membership in Mississippi Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Missouri Watercolor Society, Society of Animal Artists, and the Southern Watercolor Society. Cathy paints in all media but feels a deep affinity with water media for both its ability and unpredictability. Through years of practice and study Cathy has developed a unique style that has an expressive yet still representational feel. Cathy had found contrasts in life , language, emotions, and thoughts to be the most interesting subject matter to study and paint. Using layers of color and line, she creates a history of marks that guide the viewer into her world of thought and engages them in the process. Personal symbols appear throughout her work to unify and give deeper meaning to her paintings. Cathy attempts to encourage others to think about life in a visual way. Cathy invites the viewer to contemplate our connections with each other and the world we share. Cathy Hegman from Holly Bluff, Mississippi has been painting for over 25 years.
