About Us
The Mississippi Delta has long been known for its colorful
writers who have told stories of this eclectic region of the state with
its miles of flat farm land and long, hot summers. This region is
birthplace to the blues and many singers and song writers call it "home".
However, literary and musical talents are not the only flair that the inhabitants
of the Delta possess. Within the Mississippi Delta reside some of
the finest artists in all forms of media that one would find anywhere in
the world.
In 2000, at the urging of the Greenville Arts Council,
a group of five area artists came together with a common goal of establishing
what we have today as the Delta Artists Association (DAA). The founding
members developed the purpose and goals for the organization. The
organization started with the five founding members and 26 additional artists
in 2000, and today the membership has grown to over 100 artists in a variety
of media. Media represented includes not only painting but also woodturning,
pottery, photography, paper mache, and mosaic art. And we are ever
broadening our membership and our media represented.
